8 Great Homemade Birthday Cards for Your Mom
Birthday Card Idea for Mom #1
This beautiful handmade birthday card is a great opportunity to use your washi tape on your handmade birthday cards.
I love using washi tape for cards as it is super versatile and mostly comes in amazing patterns.
I also love looking at and buying duct tape, so I obviously have to use it to justify buying more!
>>Click here for a good selection of washi tape!
This card is a simple idea of wrapping strips of washi tape around the edges of a circle.
The circle is placed slightly hanging over the edge of the card. In this project I made the card out of regular cardstock, but it would also look great if you used felt paper.
The circle is glued to the cardboard using thick foam squares for a special touch and this also hides the torn ends of the washi tape.
No foam squares? We recommend these.
In this case, I used scissors to round off the visible end of the washi tape and drew the candle flames with a yellow marker.
A fine-tipped black pen is used to simulate a candle.
Washi tape makes beautiful candles, doesn't it?
This is one of those birthday card ideas that is very versatile and also works like any other type of greeting card, just changing a few elements like the name of the card. B. changing the words.
If you remove the flame and wick and cut the ends of the washi tape a little sharper, the candles will immediately turn into rays of sunshine.
Birthday Card Idea for Mom #2
Flowers are a popular embellishment when it comes to making mom's birthday card. This design also works well with greeting cards.
The next card deals with using white space so the flowers take center stage on their own and really stand out.
If you don't have any flower arrangements ready, you can make this yourself.get some here.
There are many tutorials on the web, from simple and enjoyable to incredibly detailed. Here is a great flower ornament clipfor your DIY birthday card.
I printed out a flower coloring page from the internet and colored it myself with Derwent pens.
The DIY flowers are glued onto the card using double-sided foam to add depth. I did the same for greetings.
Birthday Card Idea for Mom #3
This cute mom birthday card idea is great for anyone who has limited time and, as a bonus, runs out of scrap paper. The card is designed to look like a sweet gift with a big ribbon bow tied at the front.
>> Click here to buy a beautiful ribbon.
I think this is a great card to insert a gift card, voucher, discount coupons, tickets or cash. It's simple, but it feels like you're unwrapping a present.
This card can work great as a birthday card or a greeting card... not just for mom but for your dad, friend or any loved one.
Birthday Card Idea for Mom #4
This creative homemade card is so easy and you know what my favorite part is? I can use some of the beautiful patterned art papers in my mini paper stacks.
I'm a fan of buying mini stacks of paper, as they are usually only a few dollars and they always follow a theme, which means most of the paper in the stack will fit.
>> Click here to see some stacks of paper (no theme)
Patterned paper is used as a second layer, cut slightly smaller than the front of the card, with a circle cut out revealing the card underneath. Inside the circle is a nice graphic and it can be anything of your choice.
This card is fun because you can customize the paper pattern and graphics to suit your mom's interests and make it even more special. I made some cards for mum with this design and she never got tired of it...yet!
Mother's Birthday Card Idea #5
The focus of this cool birthday card idea for mom is the character's cute hand-drawn skirt. I kept the body quite simple so the skirt would stand up on its own.
The skirt was painted with a Copic marker brush and a little shine added with a white colored pencil.
I originally intended to use glitter for the sparkle, but didn't have the right color when making the card.
The DIY border is made from shiny washi tape that is cut in half with decorative scissors in a zigzag pattern. This DIY card is super easy and ready in no time, it's perfect for card makers who are short on time.
Mother's Birthday Card Idea #6
This cute DIY birthday card idea is also perfect for Mother's Day or just any greeting card for any occasion. It has a really nice flow with the wavy "yin and yang art" design suggested in the background.
This was created by placing a second layer of cardboard on top of the blank base card. Although I used a butterfly as an embellishment, this card is super versatile and the butterfly can easily be swapped out for something you know your mom will like.
Mother's Birthday Card Idea #7
This is another creative yet simple birthday card design that involves using white space to really bring out the color.
A patterned cardboard with two white stripes as the top layer was used as a base.
One edge of each white cardstock strip has a construction paper hole punch that allows the patterned cardstock to show through when the white cardstock is glued to it.
Place your birthday message or Mother's Day greetings on the top and bottom white pieces to let the pretty pattern shine by itself. I love how the craft punches made such a subtle yet stunning design in my DIY card design.
Mother's Birthday Card Idea #8
Show your mom love with this amazing birthday card design. It's surprisingly easy to make using just cardboard shapes and wooden letters and shapes. A vertical strip is glued to the center of your card, on which three squares are evenly distributed.
Except for the smaller star decorations, which were done with a paper hole punch.(like these), the map must be symmetrical. This means that if you drew an imaginary line vertically down the middle, both sides should be a mirror image of each other.
Have fun mixing and matching plain and patterned cards and make your mother's special birthday card even more adorable!
As always, I really hope you've found some inspiration for your mother's special day with these birthday cards! I would love to see all the cards you've made inspired by him.
